From April 2011:

To Everyone,

You'll never know how important you all are to us.

I feel like Sisters is just one big adopted family ... a family that Apple honored me by sharing.

It is hard to express how, for lack of a better word, gratifying it is to know you were all a part of her life ... and now her legacy.

These photos are here to help remember her, and her beautiful day.

                                                                    -- Gregg.

PS.  I'm back in Connecticut, with mixed feelings.  Of course, I feel an emptiness as a brother, but I am also feeling the loss of a good friend ... a friend to me, and a friend of so many others.  None of us want to go unloved, or alone ... so long as she had to go, I guess I also feel happy for her — on those counts, she nailed it, she was certainly not alone or unloved!

Farewell, my friend.

On behalf of myself and all there is of Apple's family, I want to thank everyone who has taken a moment out of  their day to call or who stopped by to express their feelings.

I keep reminding myself that as much of a loss it is to our family, it is equally devastating to her real family -- the people she grew up with and found a home with -- here is Sisters.

So, as a family, my condolences are returned to each and everyone who touched Apple and has been part of Apple's world.

                                                                              - Gregg

Remembrances ... Apple's Guest book will be archived for years to come.  There is a link lower in the page.

Kathleen "Apple" Eddy  (1957 - 2011)

Kathleen Eddy, daughter of Eleanor and the late, Warren "Cy" Simonsen, died Saturday, April 23, 2011

Born in Paterson, NJ on November 28, 1957, she spent her early years in New Jersey and Connecticut before settling in Sisters in the early 1970s.

Apple was known for her generous spirit and gracious hospitality, having been known to cook and bake for dozens of otherwise unengaged friends (and strangers) on holidays and special events during her previous marriage to Anthony Andersen.

For years she was a fixture in the downtown community as the proprietor of Yukon Jack's Saloon.

She was predeceased by her husband, Gilbert Eddy.  She is survived by her mother, Eleanor Simonsen, her Uncle "Bill" Kievit of Sisters; brother, Gregg, currently residing in Massachusetts; her dog Little and countless friends throughout the area.  She is also survived by her first cousin, once removed, Roger "Si" and his wife Jeanne Simonsen of Redmond; as well as an Aunt, Mildred Postma, and cousin Jacqueline McCaulley; both of New Jersey.

Your Thoughts and Memories

The guest books at the newspapers and at Legacy.com, and other for-profit companies get locked after a month or so.  Here is a guestbook that will last, at least as long as I do.

If you feel drawn to do so, here's a place to memorialize your thoughts.
